Printers: Beyond the Basics
Course Enrollment Status: Enrollment for this course is limited to 6 students.
Course Location: Silicon room at the HOA2 Arts and Crafts Center.
Category: Windows 11 PC’s only
COURSE PREREQUISITES – Basic computer skills.
COURSE DESCRIPTION –Two 75-minute classes on how to properly set up a wired/wireless network printer. We will be working with Windows 11 computers running version 22H2.
The best way to connect a printer to your wired or wireless network is to use a Static IP in the printer, you will have to set up the printer manually and NOT use the default DHCP settings.
Adding a Static IP should alleviate the Printer Offline or Printer not found error messages that you will eventually get. You will learn how to set the Static IP, subnet mask and the gateway IP address in your printer.
This is a hands-on class, we will be working with two (HP & Canon) classroom printers and installing software and drivers on our classroom Win 11 computers.
COURSE MATERIALS – An outline of the course will be provided in PDF format.
The student should have a personal USB Flash or Jump drive for transporting files between the classroom and home.
